About Larry Ricker
"Whether Canoeing, Hiking, Camping, or Snowshoeing, I enjoy being out in nature, preferably under my own power. I particularly enjoy being in wild areas of northern Minnesota. Traveling as I do allows me to experience beautiful areas that few people visit. I photograph to help preserve my memories of these special places and love sharing the beauty with others through my photographs."
Larry has been making photographs since he first received a Kodak Instamatic 126 for Christmas when in his teens. Shortly after, he graduated to 35mm, progressing through many film SLRs throughout his life. Mostly self-taught, he learned photography through books, magazines, the occasional Community Ed class, participation in photography clubs, and mostly, a lot of practice.
In 1998, at the urging of a neighbor, Larry started selling his work – something he had considered doing for many years. He joined the Digital Age in 2004.
Larry’s work has been published in Canoe & Kayak, The Boundary Waters Journal, Canoeroots and even Sports Illustrated magazines. It has also been featured in several camping, canoeing and Boundary Waters related books.
