Every year on November 10, the beacon on the now decommissioned Split Rock Lighthouse is lit in memory of the 29 men who lost their lives when the Edmund Fitzgerald sank on that date in 1975. The lighthouse is a popular attraction along Minnesota's "North Shore"... the part of the state that borders Lake Superior. In 2011, I went up for the lighting of the beacon and this is one of the images I made while there.
