View from one of the Apostle Islands ice caves. Photographed shortly before sunset in March, 2015 in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.. The caves are only accessible during colder winters when Lake Superior freezes enough to allow "safe" foot traffic. There are very few winters when this happens. The caves were only open to the public for a couple of weeks in 2015 and this photograph was made on the last day they were open..
